Softwash benefits over power wash
While power wash certainly has its place in property maintenance, there are many reasons that you may want to consider softwash for your next clean. Softwashing is suited to external hard surfaces including, driveway, patio or decking. For both first time cleans and routine maintenance, soft wash has significant advantages over power wash:
- Reduces chances for damage and water penetration into the structure.
- A cleaner end product due to the cleaning agents.
- Combats algae, mildew and mould at a molecular level instead of just blasting the surface. This allows the home to stay clear of discolouration and cleaner for longer.
- The structures exterior is disinfected as well as cleaned.
- Requires less water than cleaning with high pressure.
- Biodegradable solution is neutralised immediately after use.
- Softwashing is safer and more effective than power washing
So what is softwash?
Why is Power Wash Not Preferred in Most Cases?
High pressure power washing can cause permanent damage to all surfaces commonly found on and around your home. Not only can a high pressure jet damage and discolour vinyl cladding, it can also shoot water underneath the cladding, causing leaking and unseen damage.
With wood, a high pressure jet can strip nishes, etch the soft pulp of the wood, and damage the lignin that holds the pulp together, and gives the boards their structural integrity. The high pressure jet can permanently discolour concrete, stone, and brick, and it can loosen and erode the mortar between bricks and stone.
Aesthetically speaking, the high pressure jet mechanically removes the algae, mould, lichen and mildew from surfaces, making it look clean. That plant life typically grows back quickly however, because it was not chemically treated and eliminated at the source.
